In mid-October, more than 2,000 international visitors from nearly 50 different countries came to Fulda to obtain information on new products and to listen to presentations about new concepts and product developments.
Dr. Peter Schwab, head of Innovation Management Personal Care Rinse-off, gave a presentation about the Business Line’s concept for a cleansing formulation with high oil content. He talked about a novel structured surfactant system that uses relatively low amounts of hydrophobic surfactants, which allows the incorporation of exceptionally high levels of oil, even up to 60 percent. This concept enables the preparation of novel and truly 2-in-1 rinse-off formulations with excellent cleansing and caring properties. As a part of the forum and to underline its expertise, Evonik’s Personal Care Business Line highlighted two products and one additional concept at the stand. One focus was on THE Ceramide expert, a comprehensive portfolio of actives based on natural, skin-identical ceramide products. In addition, the Low Viscous Concept, an answer to Asian consumers’ preference for a “light” skin feel, was also presented. Moreover, a novel premium hair conditioning agent with exceptional performance and pronounced sustainability features, VARISOFT® EQ 100, was highlighted at the conference.
“Feel good at home” is this year’s slogan of Evonik’s Household Care Business Line - focused on innovative cleaning products powered by nature. Household Care officially launched a novel sophorolipid biosurfactant with an excellent eco-toxicological profile called REWOFERM® SL 446. The biosurfactant REWOFERM® SL 446 is readily biodegradable under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions and fully complies with European Ecolabel requirements. Moreover, it behaves as an exceptionally mild surfactant on the skin. It is produced via an environmentally harmless fermentation process using a natural micro-organism. With a Renewable Carbon Index (RCI) of 100 percent it is the most sustainable secondary surfactant commercially available on the market. The market launch was supported by a presentation in the forum for innovation given by Dr. Dirk Kuppert, head of Applied Technology Household Care Europe, which received a lot of attention.
