Household Care and Personal Care at SEPAWA 2011

The Household Care and Personal Care Business Lines from the Consumer Specialties Business Unit took part in the SEPAWA association's congress in Fulda.

More than 1,780 visitors from 42 countries met at the 173 exhibition booths. Over three days, the visitors were able to obtain information about new products, listen to 100 presentations about new developments, and take part in numerous scientific discussions. "The event is an important meeting place for the industry and is very important for us in terms of research and development as well as marketing," said Dr. Pavel Belik, Director Marketing Household Care Europe. "An increasing number of industry representatives – also international – are making use of this platform."
Household Care focused their presentations on three different products: First: TEGO®Sorb, an absorber that neutralizes malodors. Secondly, REWOCID® WK 30, an environmentally friendly biocide. It is biodegradable, leaves no traces on the surfaces, and exhibits only minor corrosion. It can be used, for example, as a disinfectant in hospitals, veterinary practices, production facilities in the food and animal feed industries, in livestock breeding, and in commercial kitchens. The third exhibited product was the cleaning additive TEGOTENS® SD 100. It is completely based on renewable natural raw materials and is biodegradable environmentally friendly. From technical standpoint it provides a high wetting ability, and boosts the cleaning properties. These products were also explained to the trade visitors in the technical presentations given by Michael Fender and Matthias Schöppner.

Personal Care presented several raw materials and active agents for cosmetic products. "With our products, we try to fulfill our customers' requirements as well as the needs of cosmetic consumers," says Dr. Thomas Satzinger, who is responsible for strategic marketing in the Personal Care Business Line. "Events such as this are important to us, so that we can keep a constant eye on the needs of the market." Personal Care presented the silicone-based W/O (water-in-oil) emulsifier ABIL® EM 180, which can be used in many different applications and provides outstanding emulsifying properties and excellent compatibility, even at low use levels. TEGOSOFT® AC is a light cosmetic oil that gives the skin a soft, non-greasy feeling and which is completely based on natural raw materials and produced using an enzymatic process. The thickening agent ANTIL® SPA 80, for surfactant formulations, is easy to process, contains no polyethylene glycol, and ensures stable viscosities at different temperatures. Dr. Peter Schwab gave a presentation about the new liquid, monoalkanolamide-based thickening agent, while Dr. Matthias Mentel spoke about peptides as active agents for cosmetics. TEGO® Pep-4-Even is a tetrapeptide that can be used to treat skin pigmentation disorders. Studies show that it helps against age spots, uneven skin tones and acne lesions. TEGO® Pep-4-17. a skin-identical tetrapeptide that provides anti-wrinkle benefits by plumping up the skin, was also presented.
