Evonik collaborates with leading brands in sustainable palm derivatives initiative

Evonik is a founding member of Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD) – a cross-industry initiative to enable sustainable production and sourcing of palm oil and palm kernel oil derivatives.

The new initiative brings together leading global cosmetic, home and personal care, as well as oleochemical, companies to accelerate compliance with deforestation-free and responsible sourcing principles, which include no peat and no exploitation.

ASD will facilitate information sharing to harmonize requirements, methodologies and solutions to secure responsible supply chains which support sustainable field projects and initiatives. Evonik is committed to collaborating on supply chain transparency and the positive transformation of the palm oil industry. By working together as part of ASD, Evonik will have access to risk monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to identify and address social and environmental issues across the industry.

The initiative will be led by Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) & Transitions, two organizations with extensive expertise in supply chain sustainability. Alongside Evonik, other co-founding members include: L’Oréal, Beiersdorf, The Body Shop, The Estée Lauder Companies, LÓccitane, Clarins, Channel, LVMH and Henkel, as well as oleochemicals firms, including Croda, Zschimmer & Schwarz, Innospec, Stearinerie Dubois, Godrej and Seppic.
