New Evonik Products at IN-COSMETICS 2009

The business unit Consumer Specialties of Evonik will be presenting its portfolio of Personal Care products at this year’s IN-COSMETICS in Munich, Germany, from April 21 through 23, 2009 at booth number L 300.

Evonik is introducing a comprehensive portfolio of innovative products and technologies supporting all current market trends like skin and hair care, anti-aging, convenience, as well as natural ingredients. Two presentations will complement the program at In-Cosmetics.


ANTIL^® Soft SC:
Natural choice for a multifunctional thickening agent
ANTIL^® Soft SC is a liquid thickening agent for rinse-off formulations that improves foam creaminess and reduces moisture loss of skin and hair after surfactant treatment. It shows excellent thickening and solubilising properties in various surfactant systems and works as a foam booster even in PEG-free formulations. ANTIL^® Soft SC is very easy to process. It is PEG-free, based on natural raw materials and readily biodegradable, which conforms to Ecocert standard.

TEGO^® Pep 4-17:
Collagen boosting bioactive for anti-aging formulations
TEGO^® Pep 4-17 is a novel bioactive and pure tetrapeptide with outstanding anti-aging properties for skin care formulations. It activates collagen production and therefore stimulates dermal filling, repair, and renewal mechanisms of the skin. Tetrapeptide-17 is based on skins own structures. Formulations with TEGO^® Pep 4-17 lead to an increased elasticity, a decreased volume of wrinkles and fine lines as well as a reduction of skin roughness. The recommended usage level is 0.5 – 5.0 per cent. The product is identified by an in-silico (bioinformatic) approach of prediction of biologically active ECM breakdown products.

ABIL^® Care XL 80:
Novel silicone based oil-in-water emulsifier
ABIL^® Care XL 80 provides an outstanding combination of performance and aesthetics. Formulations based on this new emulsifier feel very velvety and silky and have a light, smooth after-feel on the skin. In addition, its innovative molecular architecture results in outstanding emulsifying and stabilizing properties. Creams, lotions and sprays containing all type of active ingredients or UV filters can easily be formulated with ABIL^® Care XL 80. It is suitable for both hot and cold processing and a flexible and powerful tool for developing skin care emulsions with premium characteristics.

ABIL^® T Quat 60:
Premium silicone conditioning agent
The new ABIL^® T Quat 60 is a premium silicone conditioning agent with excellent substantivity to hair keratine, outstanding conditioning features and impressive heat protection properties for universal use in conditioning shampoos, hair rinses, balms, body washes and leave-in formulations. ABIL^® T Quat 60 is highly suitable for clear formulations.
In surfactant formulations, ABIL^® T Quat 60 shows a significantly reduced thinning effect compared to standard silicone derivatives, provides a superior skin feel and improves the foam properties.

TEGO^® Turmerone:
Improved skin radiance and evenness of skin tones
TEGO^® Turmerone is the distilled fraction of turmeric oil extracted from the root of Curcuma longa by supercritical carbon dioxide and is standardized to turmerones content. Significant intrinsic anti-oxidant activity has been observed in in-vitro experiments. Studies with reconstructed skin models challenged by UV-B irradiation demonstrate the upregulation of genes involved endogenous cellular defence mechanisms against oxidative stress. TEGO^® Turmerone can be applied to improve skin radiance and the evenness of skin tones, as shown with in-vivo studies with 0.5% use levels after application over 8 weeks. Produced with an environmentally friendly process, it contains at least 65% of Turmerones. The product conforms to Ecocert standard.

TEGO^® Wipe Lux:
Innovative EO free concentrate for cosmetic wet wipes
TEGO^® Wipe Lux is a unique composition of EO-free emulsifiers, caring cosmetic emollients and phenoxyethanol. It can be used for the preparation of O/W impregnating liquids for cosmetic wet wipes. The combination of a medium viscous cosmetic oil with good spreading properties and natural Cotton Seed Oil results in impregnating liquids which provide a rich and soft skin feel.
TEGO^® Wipe Lux is a liquid concentrate and easy-to-process at room temperature. Formulations based on TEGO^® Wipe Lux allow the addition of various water-soluble and oil-soluble actives, ingredients such as panthenol, allantoin, TEGO^® Cosmo C 100 (Creatine) and Skinmimics^® are well tolerated in the final impregnating liquid.

TEGO^® Wipe Flex:
Multifunctional technology for cosmetic skin care wipes
Sensorial benefits are important for cosmetic wipes acceptance and are also a differentiation tool. TEGO^® Wipe Flex offers a new concept to modify a pleasant basic skin feel of an impregnating liquid into various types of afterfeel
as well as different application properties. Whilst providing elegant emolliency, the choice of added skin care materials influences the performance and sensorial profiles of the final formulation.
TEGO^® Wipe Flex gives the formulator flexibility as it was designed to tolerate the addition of various oils, emulsifiers/surfactants and active ingredients. TEGO^® Wipe Flex is an emulsifying system suitable for the formulation of O/W impregnating liquids for cosmetic wipes applications.
It allows the preparation of versatile wipe products with different claims like skin smoothness, softness, care, cleansing, Make-up remover. The product represents an innovative technology based on PEG-free emulsifiers, a caring emollient and phenoxyethanol.
TEGO^® Wipe Flex is liquid and suitable for economic cold processing. It is easy-to-process by dilution with water. Impregnating liquids made from TEGO^® Wipe Flex have a very fine degree of dispersion and provide long-term stability in an exceptionally broad range of formulations.
